January 29, 2009

I just caught 2 huskies running down my street. I saw the humane society van outside and the I saw two big huskies run down the road. I grabbed the squeakiest squeak toy I could find and ran outside. They both came over to me right away. I was of course a little nervous because I am a little dog person, big dogs are not usually my thing. But I love all dogs, so I put one on Rocky's lead and ran inside to grab my phone and some treats. I called the humane society and told them to turn the van around because I had the huskies contained in my yard.
They were both so sweet! One's name was Diesel and the other one didn't have a collar on. When the van came they said 'they sure are runners! they ran all the way across Northwest Radial Highway.' Which is the busy street about 1/2 block south of my house. Anyway I feel good today:) Not only saving pugs, but huskies too! I hope that Diesel and his friend find their homes.

Before the huskies I decided it was time to clean up the pugs. Rocky was first and he hates having his ears and wrinkles cleaned. He deals with it, but doesn't like it. As soon as I pulled out the toothbrush his tail went down and he tried to flee the seen. At least he's got fresh breath and clean wrinkles and ears! The others don't mind it as much. Toby was pretty freaked out my the toothbrush, but he did pretty good.

Today I will be picking up a 3 1/2 month old female fawn puppy. How cute:) Her owner just doesn't have enough time for her I guess. I'm sure we will be able to find her a great home.

The mange boys are doing better. I haven't heard from Tucker's foster mom lately, so hopefully no news is good news. She called me the day after she got him and asked me what would happen if she were to fall in love with him and couldn't let him go. I told her that adoption is always an option. I love it when people fall in love with the rescued pugs instantly.

On Tuesday I left the dogs alone to go to work and they got into popcorn. It was rather gross picking up their popcorn feces yesterday. That stuff just goes right through them! Ewwww!

I'm going to go get the house all cleaned up. A lady who is interested in Toby maybe coming over today:)

January 23, 2009

Wow what a crazy few weeks! We have gotten in a ton of pugs! Poor babies, I wish that every pug that was born was already equipped with the perfect home. At least now we know that all the babies we've gotten in will find good homes.
On Wednesday Whitney and I headed down to St. Joe to meet with Lisa (MPR President) to pick up 3 little pug puppies all with mange. They were dumped at a shelter down there and were going to get put down on Monday if we didn't save them. Two of them are brothers and they are 4 months old. They have mange on their sweet little faces and on their legs. The other pug is a 8 month old male who has mange all of his whole body. He has more bald spots than actual hair. He looks so sad it just breaks your heart!
So we got to the VCA at about 4pm with them. Dr. Wanger looked at them all and decided that they have the mange that is not as contagious. So they all got started on medications and will be rechecked in about two weeks.
Yesterday I picked up a little 15 month old female. She was owner surrendered and a super cute little pug! She is still full puppy and should be able to find the perfect home soon:)
Toby is still here at our house. I just got the first adoption application in for him last night. I don't want to let him go!! He is so sweet and just the perfect little guy! Why can't I keep them all????
I've got 80 some emails to go through and respond to so that's enough blogging for me:)

January 13, 2008

Burrr its cold outside!! The pugs are not thrilled about this weather. Especially Lily she won't even go outside unless I say 'wanna go to Grandmas?' She is a spoiled pug! Rocky and Toby don't seem to mind the cold as much.
Toby is a licking machine! He licks all the time. He is either licking the air, his paws, or some other random object like the walls. If you call him and pet him he will stop. Toby also has a little separation anxiety. Even when I walk out on the porch he whines and scratches the door. But overall Toby is an amazing dog and I love him!
Over the past weekend we rescued three pugs. Saturday night we got in a little female pug from a puppymill down in Kansas. She is so little only weighing 12 pounds! She already has a family that is interested in adopting her.
The other two pugs were owner surrendered. They were an older couple. He just had a severe stroke and they lost their home and their new place did not allow pets. So they surrendered them to the rescue.
We are also getting in a five year old male tonight. More to come on him.
I'm getting pug kisses from my sister's pug Zeke:) Back to work for me!

January 9, 2008

Toby is doing great. He is such a sweet heart. He reminds me of Apollo, except Toby can see. He is 10 years old, but he acts like a 3 year old. He loves toys and hes a big goof ball. I love him! He's a perfect pug:) I still need to get him to the vet just for a physical and then he should be ready to be adopted. One of my awesome volunteers is a digital scrapbooker and she made some awesome pages for me. She is wonderful! They look so nice. She is the foster mom for Snickers and she is also hooking us up with a sweet place for Pug-o-ween this next year. We are getting in a male mix from a South Dakota shelter on Saturday. Then we are also getting in a female pug from a puppymill down in Kansas. And we have one owner surrender that I need to get sometime soon. I have to work today at 4pm. I should also start on my taxes, but I really hate doing that stuff. I also need to do my homework for class, but I'll get to that this weekend. Seems like there's always something to do. :)

January 7, 2009

Well today started with taking Snickers to his new foster home. Snickers is a 1 year old pug mix. He has really cool coloring, almost like a calico/tiger look. He is in a great foster home with two other dogs and will be getting neutered tomorrow morning.
This afternoon I picked up Toby. Toby is a 10 year old black male pug. He is a total sweet heart. His previous owner was working too many hours and didn't feel it was fair to him. So now he is here with Lily and Rocky just chillin. I think we may foster him. Hes just really cute and his personality fits right in here.
Today is Matt and mine 5 year anniversary. We are going to go out to eat at a fancy restaurant and then go ice skating. Its crazy to think its been 5 years already. It sure doesn't feel like its been that long! I love Matt more and more each day:) He is my prince charming!
Anyway back to the pugs. So we currently have little Mr. Otis (who has a pending adoption), Snickers, and now Toby. We will be getting a 5 month old pug puppy that was found on the side of the road down in Missouri. Hopefully she will be healthy and ready to find her forever home. Then I will also be getting two from South Dakota this weekend. One is a mix and the other is a 5 year old black female. I'll let you know more details once I get them.
Today I am going to try and send out a mass email to my database announcing the launch of the website.
Well that's about it, more website fun ahead!!

January 6, 2009

Well I got home from Houston Texas last night around 7pm. It was a nice trip but it was even nicer to get home to my pugs!
While I was gone Apollo found his forever home and is now happier than ever! I miss him like crazy! He was such a good dog and I was really falling in love with him. But I know that he is much happier now. He was with us a full two months and it was truly hard to let him go. Knowing that he is in a great home makes me feel good.
Rocky and Lily were so very happy to see me last night when I got home! They showered me with love for a good thirty minutes.
Matt built an awesome relationship with Lily while I was gone. She is able to trust him now and jumps up on his lap and cuddles with him. This trip was very good for them. We both hope now that Lily knows I will come home, hopefully she won't freak out when its only Matt at home.
Little Otis will be going to the vet in the next day or two to get a panel done, just to make sure he doesn't have any kidney troubles. He is the 15th pug we have rescued:)
